Bundaberg East, Queensland
Stone chips, scratches, kerbed bumpers and clouded headlights, sorted without the panel shop bill or the insurance excess. Ray has been doing it out of the sheds on Steptoe Street since 2009.

The work
These are jobs that came through the shed. Nothing staged, nothing borrowed. The left frame is how the car arrived or how it looked part way through the repair. The right frame is how it went home.

What turns up
A split bumper corner or a gouge down a quarter panel usually reads as a new bar and a repaint. More often it is a couple of hours of plastic work, filler and colour, and the car goes home the same day.
If it genuinely needs a panel shop, you will be told that too.

How it gets done
There is no trick to it and no shortcut. The panel gets cleaned, the damage gets filled and flatted, everything around it gets masked so not a speck of overspray lands where it should not, and the colour goes on in coats.
Then it is cut back and polished until the repaired section reflects the same as the paint either side of it. That last part is where the time goes, and it is the part you would notice if it were skipped.

Services
Small to medium cosmetic work on cars, utes, vans and 4WDs. Ring up, describe it, and you will get a straight answer on whether it is worth doing.
The bread and butter. Highway chips, car park scratches, trolley rash, keyed doors. Filled, colour matched and blended so the repair disappears into the panel around it.
Cracked corners, kerbed bumpers, split mounting tabs. Plastic repair and reshaping rather than a new bar off the shelf.
Including rear wing blend outs. The colour is faded into the surrounding paint so you cannot see where the old finish stops and the new one starts.
Masked up properly, sprayed in the shed, cut and polished back. For the jobs that do not warrant a full panel shop.
Yellow to white, as the van puts it. Clouded, sun baked lenses cut back and sealed so the car looks years younger and you can actually see at night.
Scuffed and gutter rashed hub caps brought back rather than replaced. A cheap fix that lifts the whole look of a car.
Swirls, oxidation and dull, chalky paint machine cut and polished. This is the one that makes an older car look like it has been repainted.
Full car detailing and full interior detailing. Inside and out, back to the state it was in when it left the dealer.
Queensland sun turns a headlight lens milky in a few years. It dims the beam, it fails a roadworthy, and it ages a car more than anything else on the front of it. Cut back and sealed, they come up clear again for a fraction of what a new set of lamps costs.

Buff, polish and detail
A machine cut and polish takes the dead, chalky top layer off the paint and brings the depth back. Swirls from years of the wrong wash go with it. Add a full interior and a car that was about to be traded in suddenly is not.
Full car detailing and full interior detailing are both on the list. Ring for a price on your vehicle, it depends on size and how far gone the paint is.

About Ray
Ray has been repairing chips and scratches around Bundaberg since 2009. The business is him: he quotes the job, he does the job, and he is the one who hands the keys back. Nobody gets passed to a service advisor and nobody gets a different apprentice each visit.
That is most of why the reviews read the way they do. People mention him by name, and a fair few mention being quoted less than they expected.
“A really great guys who takes immense pride in his work.”
Or stay where you are
It is painted on the side of the ute for a reason. For a lot of jobs there is no need to drop a car off at all: the tools travel, and the work gets done where the car already is.
Otherwise the shed is at Steptoe Street in Bundaberg East, open weekdays from seven.

I have had this car for 23years and had it buffed many times but never seen it come up this good, absolutely faultless I love it
I had two incidents in quick succession in my late 2021 Prado with Crystal Pearl premium paint. There was a large scrape on the front plastic fender & a dent & scrapes on the door frame. I needed to make two insurance claims if I chose a panel beater. That's 2x $600 excesses. Ray repaired both for less than half & it was completed within a week. He even repaired a rubber insert in the door frame.
I'm an elderly lady very recently relocated to Bundaberg so not yet familiar with any car repair businesses. Going online I saw Redbac and ultimately decided to go here due to the excellent reviews I read. Ray gave me excellent directions on the phone and upon arrival quickly identified and fixed the issue with my car, and, saved me hundreds of dollars for the repair. He also kindly buffed my milky headlights for me. I will always go back here and definitely recommend Ray at Redbac Chip & Scratch Repairs
Without an appointment, I saw Ray to see if he could give me a quote for a dented bumper on my RAV4. Not only did he give me a very fair quote, but he offered to fix it immediately in spite of his just commencing his lunch. He offered to drive my wife and self to a local shopping centre for our lunch and then picked us up an couple of hours later. A perfect job at a good price. Thank you Ray.
The service was great and the outcome was amazing. Our new car got a significant scratch on the bumper bar and Ray fixed it so beautifully. He is very reasonably priced. We highly recommend Ray.
I have just had Ray detail our Corolla Hatch. He repaired the supermarket scratches and eliminated a few other mysterious scratches that appeared. His work is of the highest standard and I am really overjoyed with the result. He is a genione guy and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who needs a car to be detailed. Great job Ray, really pleased with your work
Thank you Ray, for the quick attention to the stone chips on my nearly new car. The colour was pretty close and Im relieved to have the paintwork protected again at reasonable cost. Highly recommend your business. Joanne
Extremely happy with the TOPJOB DONE on our Van.. I rarely comment on work done on the Van and Car, however the extra mile that Ray does should get recognition.
Redbac chip and scratch repairs did a first class job on car, it looks like new so I would highly recommend them
Up close
Nobody inspects a repair from across the driveway. They crouch down at the panel and look along it in the light, which is the only place a bad blend shows up.
